Welcome!
This website is the
source for updated information, so be sure
and check back here often to keep up with the latest news about all the
activities, happenings, and plans.
And speaking of news, congratulations to Anne and Pete Sibley for taking top honors at the Great American Duet Sing-Off
hosted by Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion this April. They've been
our singing idols for years and are now the Nations' official "Wobegon Idols." What fun!
Everybody had a great time dancing to the music of Jalan
Crossland, Teka Brock, and the High Lonesome Willies at the New Year's
Eve
Blast in Sheridan. It was a real hoot, and
now it’s time to get
ready for another great time! Mark
your
calendars for the 5th Annual
Big
Horn
Mountain
Festival this July 10, 11,
and 12, 2009, at the Johnson County Fairgrounds in beautiful Buffalo,
Wyoming.
We
have put together another fantastic line up for this year that has The
SteelDrivers, The Greencards, The Wiyos,
Pete
Wernick
& Flexigrass, The
Special
Consensus, Long Road
Home, The Jalan
Crossland Band, Anne
&
Pete Sibley, Jeff Troxel,
Steve
Smith
& Hard Road, Bill Evans
& Megan Lynch, The Teka Brock Band, and D. Michael
Thomas, all coming to town.
Check
out their bios in Bands.
There’ll be lots of
fun, including the Wyoming
Mandolin and Banjo Championships, an Old
Time
Fiddle Contest, and a Guitar
contest too, with the winners
of the mandolin, banjo, and fiddle contest all winning guaranteed slots at
the Walnut
Valley Festival contests in Winfield,
Kansas. The Band Scramble is always entertaining, and there
will be a variety of workshops hosted by your
favorite performers. There will be some nice instruments
raffled
off (a very nice Weber Gallatin F mandolin just arrived), food and craft vendors, a pancake
breakfast, great folks, and lots of jamming. It all adds up
to a
super time. So, plan to attend and don’t forget the dates,
July
10, 11, and 12, 2009.
The beautiful Big Horn
Mountains frame the festival at the
Johnson County Fairgrounds where you will enjoy the true festival
experience. Bring your tent, camper, or RV and spend the
entire weekend
with us and enjoy some of the best parkin' lot pickin' in the Rocky
Mountains. And for those who love to ride bikes, check out
the Heart of the
Mountains Bluegrass Bicycle Tour for a fun way to travel to
Buffalo. Visit Camping
&
Lodging to learn more about camping or to locate one
of the
area motels. The Buffalo Wild Bunch will be back cooking up a
storm and there
will be many other food vendors on the festival grounds.
Check out the Venue
for general information and directions to the Fairgrounds, the pancake
breakfast, and more. You can buy tickets
online
or from local outlets listed on the tickets page.
If you want to
volunteer in exchange for a day
or weekend ticket, fill out an online application and learn more about
how you
can help in the volunteer
section. Information and an application form are also
available if you
are interested in being a festival vendor.
Of
course, our festival wouldn't happen without our generous sponsors
and we encourage you to patronize their businesses or become a sponsor
yourself.
